Community Projects

Our roots run deep in the communities we serve and we’re proud to support projects that make a lasting impact for local residents. This page showcases just a few of the community-driven installations we’ve contributed to with each one a reflection of our craftsmanship, collaboration, and commitment to public spaces. These projects not only demonstrate our technical capabilities, but also highlight our growing presence in public works as we continue expanding into new opportunities across California.

Sutter's Fort
Sacramento, CA

As part of our ongoing commitment to preserving California’s historic landmarks, Goodwin-Cole partnered with Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park to fabricate custom canvas covers for several outdoor wood structures. These structures, integral to the Fort’s immersive educational displays, required weather protection that would remain historically appropriate and visually authentic. Our solution involved carefully crafted canvas covers that not only shield the structures from the elements but also reflect the traditional materials and methods of the era. Using period-accurate lashing and heavy-duty canvas, the covers were designed for durability, performance, and historical integrity to help the Fort continue to educate and inspire future generations while preserving its open-air exhibits.

Folsom Amphitheater
Folsom, CA

To support the City of Folsom’s vibrant public programming and live events, Goodwin-Cole provided custom shade panels for the amphitheater at the Historic Folsom Station. The venue needed a solution that would offer both protection from the elements and visual appeal without compromising sightlines or sound quality. Our tensioned fabric panels were engineered for durability and seamlessly integrated into the venue’s architecture, enhancing audience comfort while preserving the open-air experience.

Natomas Regional Park
Sacramento, CA

To support the City of Sacramento’s ongoing investment in family-friendly outdoor spaces, Goodwin-Cole partnered with Natomas Regional Park to design and install a custom fabric shade structure over the park’s vibrant playground area. The primary goal was to enhance safety and comfort by reducing sun exposure during Sacramento’s hot summer months. Our high-tension canopy provides expansive coverage that protects children and families from direct UV rays while also preserving the playground equipment beneath. The result is a cooler, more inviting play environment that encourages year-round use and community enjoyment.

Oak Park Preschool
Sacramento, CA

Oak Park Preschool needed a safe, sun-protected space for their young learners to enjoy outdoor activities year-round. With Sacramento’s hot summers and bright UV exposure, the school recognized the importance of a dedicated shaded zone that would allow kids to play comfortably and safely throughout the day. We installed a custom-engineered, center-post canopy designed to maximize coverage in a compact play area. The solution provides robust UV protection and significantly reduces heat buildup on playground surfaces.

Twin Rivers Unified School District
Sacramento & Folsom, CA

Across multiple campuses within the Twin Rivers Unified School District, Goodwin-Cole installed a series of custom shade structures to meet the diverse needs of students and staff. From large playground canopies to shaded lunch areas and quiet outdoor spaces, each installation was tailored to its site to deliver critical UV protection, improved outdoor usability, and long-lasting durability.
